History
The Lemsteraak VLIELAND is registered in the German "Seeschiffsregister" and as historical maritime cultural object of the highest category A in the Dutch Register of Sailing Monuments. SSRP Stamboek Plaquette Nr. 84.
The VLIELAND, one of the oldest large Dutch Lemsteraken, was built in 1909 in open fisherman's version for the Enkhuizen fisherman jan Goos and already in 1914 sold by him as "Pleasure vessel". Before that, he already sailed as one of the first charter skippers with paying guests from Amsterdam on the then still open Zuiderzee. The VLIELAND can thus be considered the "baker's mate" of the brown fleet. Then, in the 1920s, the VLIELAND was converted to her present form as a yacht.
The interior paneling of the deck cabin, the aft decks on either side and the saloon largely still retain the original oak and ebony paneling and oak parquet with ebony trim. The VLIELAND was part of the fleet of the Royal Yacht Club Muiden (KNZRV) in the 1930s and 1940s and even went seal hunting with the great-grandfather of the current king (Prince Henry). After that the VLIELAND was a welcome participant in numerous regattas with her Enkhuizer owner family (a.o. 2nd
prize Flevo Race 1960) It is therefore also a piece of Dutch hunting history that you bring into your home with such an Aak.
Layout:
The boat has two enclosed aft cabins, each with a berth of approx. 1.10 x 2.40 m (1-2 pers), an owner's room with a double bed of 1.60 x 2.00 m and a "voroonder" with two double berths of approx. 1.30 x 2.20 m including two smaller beds of approx. 1.80 x 1.00 m, mostly used for bags or children.
The L-shaped settee in the saloon can be converted into another double bed of 1.60 x 2.00 meters.
In the connecting corridor between the salon and the forecastle is the galley with sink, stove and oven.
Underneath are cupboards for pots and pans, washing and cleaning products and the water tank (approx. 300 l).
Between the pantry and forecastle, under a large two-piece teak hatch, is the corridor with a large 230-volt refrigerator on STB and a toilet and laundry room on BB.
Step by step we have completely renewed the rigging with sails 2011, mast, boom, jib boom and standing
rigging 2013 and in 2023 the gaff.
The PLANAR 8DM diesel air heater was newly installed in 2020.
The 6 cylinder MERDEDES engine (OM 603 without turbo) with 106 hp was marinized by NG-Shipyard in 2023 and installed in July.
Any new owner should be aware that such an old ship always faces the next challenge. You can guide such an old treasure only part of its journey through the ages - who dares...?
